The challenge
A production service was degrading under load without a clear capacity model. It also had inconsistent TLS behavior and slow endpoints whose causes had not been isolated.
Joseph's contribution
Journey-based load testing
Built k6 tests across about 50 endpoints and complete user workflows to measure capacity under realistic traffic.
Runtime diagnosis
Traced wasted compute to application-server configuration and sized the running container count from measured behavior.
Application and TLS analysis
Identified slow query patterns and traced an intermittent SSL problem to redirect behavior rather than the certificates themselves.
What the work enabled
The same workload ran on one-third fewer containers, and the audit established an approximate 2,000-concurrent-user failure threshold plus a concrete list of application and infrastructure fixes.
